  • What is rubber?
The first rubber material used for every sort of rubber product was natural rubber. Natural rubber comes from the rubber trees in South America and Asia. Years ago, natural rubber was used to make tires and weatherstripping. The first rubber tires were actually white, but researchers added carbon black to make tires stronger. Today's automotive rubber is usually made from a synthetic formulation known as EPDM.
  • What kind of rubber are Metro parts made of?
METRO rubber is made from an advanced, propriety EPDM formula which has superior ozone and UV resistance. METRO's rubber products are also molded using high heat and 40-to-125 tons of pressure, which gives them a longer life and clean, smooth looks.
  • What is Dense Rubber?
Dense rubber is harder and used for gas and brake pads, hood bumpers etc.
  • What is Cellular Sponge Rubber?
Cellular sponge rubber is used for weatherstripping , to seal doors, trunks, hoods and roofs. Sponge rubber varies in degree of softness from one manufacturer to the other. The greater the softness, the better. Softer rubber does a better job filling in the tiny cracks and bumps along surfaces it presses against. This prevents water leakage. Softer weatherstripping also makes it easier to close doors, trunks and tailgates. METRO's SUPERSoft sponge rubber is the softest and most durable auto rubber you can buy. SUPERsoft has a unique closed micro-cell structure. This cell structure helps give SUPERsoft its superior softness. The material formula and secret manufacturing process gives SUPERsoft better shape "memory", better looks, and better durability and resistance to abrasion, tearing and ripping. Unlike other auto weatherstripping, SUPERsoft does not absorb water – a key condition to completely sealing out water.
  • What makes Metro’s rubber superior?
METRO’s rubber is made from an advanced, propriety EPDM formula which has superior ozone and UV resistance. METRO’s rubber products are also molded using high heat and 40-to-125 tons of pressure, which gives them a longer life and clean, smooth looks.

METRO’s parts quality, and look and feel usually surpasses the quality of the original rubber parts. All the fine details of the original parts are precisely duplicated, even the details that won't show after installation. The most advanced materials are combined with the latest technologies to make METRO rubber the highest quality rubber parts available.

METRO’s SUPERSoft sponge rubber is the softest and most durable auto rubber you can buy.
  • How do I maintain rubber?
To give your rubber that clean new, jet black look, start by cleaning it with mild soap and water. Follow with a rubber & vinyl protectant or even a silicone-based furniture polish. Do not spray protectants directly on the rubber. Rather, apply it to a damp rag then wipe it on. Some rubber will naturally bleed paraffin, which will look like hardened candle wax. Use a solvent to carefully remove any visible paraffin.
  • What are rubber's enemies?
Rubber contains plasticizers that eventually "evaporate" from rubber, leaving it hardened and cracked. This is a naturally occurring process, but heat, sunlight, smog, chemicals and gasoline/oil can shorten the life of rubber parts.
  • What is Metro Weatherstripping?
All of Metro's Molded Weatherstripping is manufactured from the highest quality sponge material available and is always very detailed, exceeding that of our competition . We are constantly adding to our list of molded weatherstripping and other reproduction parts. If you need a type not listed, please contact our customer service office. It may be in the works or we may be interested in reproducing it.

    • Made from smooth dies for a sleek appearance.
    • Accurate profiles that fit like the originals, with well defined details.
    • Vulcanized in a clean bath, with no residue for you to clean off.
    • Tear resistant rubber.
    • Jet black extrusions for a show winning look.
    • Sunlight and ozone resistant rubber that won't shrink or crack.
    • Made from actual size dies, which means no guesswork on the finished profile size.
    • Added sealing ribs where needed.
    • Made to the correct softness, like the original. Not made from a work all rubber compound.
  • Why choose Metro Molded Roof Rail Seals?
Metro makes a huge line of Roof Rail Seals that have that "show winning" look and fit. Our Convertible Top Seals all incorporate steel cores and studs for a perfect fit.
  • Why choose Metro Convertible Pillar Post Seals?
Metro's Convertible Pillar Post Seals are molded in one piece, just like the originals, not merely spliced into place like some of the competitors' reproductions! Be sure to ask before you buy.
  • Why choose Metro Rear Roll-Up Seals?
All of the Rear Roll-Up Seals Metro makes go beyond just being functional. They are reproductions that, in most cases, have steel cores, are molded with a one-piece construction to eliminate splice marks, and are better than OEM in fit and quality.
  • Why choose Metro Auxiliary Door, Window & Trunk Seals?
Finely crafted and detailed, with 100% SATISFACTION GUARANTEED. Metro's Door Lock Pillar Seals are the best available anywhere, with molded-in steel cores and superbly detailed outer rubber.
  • Why choose Metro Vent Window Seals?
Our Vent Windows have molded curves and a non-wrinkling lip design, making them the highest quality reproductions available.
